Let us put our years of experience to work for you by creating an heirloom quality digital restoration of your photograph to share with family and friends online, to incorporate into your digital scrapbooking project, or to save to your digital album. As each photograph is unique, so is our approach to each retouching and restoration assignment.  We like to work closely with our customer.

 

Many restoration jobs come to us from across the country by email and through our download url. All that is required is a digital scan of a photograph to send as an email attachment or download. No longer is the customer limited to sending irreplaceable original photographs through the mail, subject to damage and loss, requiring additional time for transit.  Instructions are available for the asking on how to scan photos for reproduction and how to send files through our download.

 

Scanning and sending a digital file may not be for everyone, though.  We gladly accept original photographs to work with. Once we receive them, we scan original photographs into our system and return them to the customer either independently or with an order of prints. We take every precaution when handling customer photographs to assure they are returned in the same condition as received. We do not, however, accept any responsibility for loss or damage.

 

What Our Retouching and Restoration Services Can Do for You:

 

• Remarkably improve the quality of faded or dark photos; improve the color on color photos

• Turn black and white photos to sepia or any number of other custom tones

• Colorize or “tint” black and white photos, as per your instructions

For $39.95 we provide a retouched or restored digital image reproduction of most photographs, available to the customer by email and Dropbox. We can generally improve any photo, whether color original or black and white, by correcting exposure, contrast, color balance, crop, and removing minor scratches, lines, spots etc. In many instances, we can do an excellent job with any or all of these minor corrections.

 

Some images will require more work than others. A customer may like to have a black and white photo colorized or replace portions of a photo that have been removed by damage.  When additional work is required to successfully complete a job, the cost will run $69.95 or more . Customer will be notified when a retouching/ restoration assignment may run above $69.95.

 

Multiple images (4 or more) received at one time for restoration will be eligible for a discounted price.

Prints in a variety of sizes are available at affordable prices.

 

 

HOW IT WORKS/ GETTING YOUR PHOTOGRAPH TO US:

 

You can bring your photograph to us if you live in or near the Tidewater area of Virginia. Phone (757)771-6860 to set up an appointment to meet with us. We will ask to hold on to your photo, if possible, to use for comparison with our work in progress. We handle original photos with great care and store them safely until ready to be returned to you. If you choose to have prints made of your completed digital image, your original will be returned along with your printed photos. Should you choose to receive only the digital file, your original will be returned either by U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail, UPS, or FEDEX. We will send an invoice to reflect shipping and handling charges to be paid prior to sending your original. There is a $15.00 fee for shipping and handling.

 

Please note: Cherished photographs must be packaged with great care, as we do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage. We take every precaution to ensure your photos are safe with us, but once they leave our hands we cannot guarantee their safe return to you.

This method is appropriate for sending images 5 MB or smaller as attachments. They should be in JPG format, sent to: artist@jamretouching.com, along with instructions for retouching/ restoration. Remember, the better the scan, the better the finished image.

For easy transfer of image files at no cost, you can download Dropbox to your desktop at www.dropbox.com. Follow instructions for getting your images to us.

 

HOW IT WORKS/ YOUR PROOF

 

Once we receive your photograph or digital file, we will either begin the process scanning or restoration of your digital file. The cost for scanning is $10.00 per original photograph. We will notify you if the cost for retouching or restoration will run above $69.95.  When the restoration is in the final stage, we will send a proof to you at the email address you provide as a JPEG image- normally, 3-5 days. At that time you can offer feedback or accept the work as shown. We are willing to make minor adjustments to our work at no additional charge. No payment is required until you accept our proof.

 

We require full payment before we release your digital images to you. We accept PayPal, Venmo, and money order. We will release the final digital restoration to you as a JPEG image to be sent to your email address. The restoration will also be made available as a larger file on dropbox. You may order additional prints of your restoration in a variety of sizes from 2x3( wallet) to 11x14. Allow 3-5 days for printing and additional time for shipping.
